1986 SVO MUSTANG "COMPETITON PACKAGE"

This 1986 Ford Mustang SVO is a gray-over-gray example that was first sold in Ohio and later spent time in Ontario, Canada, where it was acquired by the seller in 2022. Powered by a turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the car features the Competition Preparation package as well as a Traction-Lok limited-slip differential, a biplane rear spoiler, a fuel recalibration switch, a heater, articulated front sport seats, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, and 16″ alloy wheels. This Mustang SVO is now offered in Ontario, Canada, with manufacturer’s literature, a period brochure, a copy of a Mustangs & Fords article featuring the model, a Haynes repair manual, two sets of keys, service and parts invoices, spare parts, US and Canadian Carfax reports,Ford’s Special Vehicle Operations division gave the Mustang SVO a biplane rear spoiler and revised front-end styling as well as thinner rocker panels, tinted taillight lenses, and an offset hood scoop to feed the top-mount intercooler. Per the seller, this example was refinished in its current shade of silver under previous ownership. Additional exterior details include black mirror housings, a pair of polished slash-cut exhaust outlets, Marchal fog lights with branded covers, and black trim on the bumper covers. The articulated front sport seats and the rear bench seat are upholstered in Charcoal Gray leather. The dashboard houses a heater, a driver-selectable fuel recalibration switch, and a digital clock.  The car was ordered with the Competition Preparation package, which eliminated standard equipment including the AM/FM/cassette stereo, air conditioning, and power windows and locks. The turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four was factory rated at 200 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. The starter motor was replaced in June 2012 and a replacement oil pan and valve cover were installed in May 2013, while the timing was adjusted and the spark plugs and ignition wires were replaced in March 2021. Additional work performed in 2021 included replacing the thermostat and upper radiator hose as well as changing the oil.
